If you are reading this, I would think that you are at least curious about becoming an online entrepreneur and whether it can become a sustainable and profitable route to your financial freedom.

Get online and let’s Google “online marketing strategies”. You don’t have to look past the first page of the search results and read through some of the top articles. Just as I found, you may also find that that most of these articles seem very similar in many ways.

Some of the articles/blogs offer an overview to start with and expands into the content in a list format. An example of this may look like this: “7 Online Marketing Strategies to grow your Facebook Fans”.

The list format content delivery is not of any problem at all. This type of a formatting makes it easier for the any reader to absorb the content. The problem is that the type of content are seemingly very similar. So, following my example topic on the previous paragraph above, if you want information on how to grow your Facebook fans, all your research on Google may yield a lot of similar content.

Keep in mind that such content were developed by professional writers, writing for some of the biggest companies in the world. You will eventually start to ask the question that why do majority of the articles sound the same?

The answer is simple. Online marketing can be complicated beyond the basics.

No one likes to be wrong or to give bad advice. The content publishers are just writing the same vague, generalized advice as many of the marketing gurus. I believe that you’ve got my point by now.

The Voice of Experience

If you are still reading this, I am going to give you something awesome. I’m going to give you some original and effective advice about online marketing. This is completely honest advice based on my own experiences. This will not involve outdated strategies that do not work. How can I be so sure? Because, I am an online entrepreneur who runs a very successful online business employing only a few online marketing strategies.

I run this blog, among some other sites, which is all about online business and marketing. Every online entrepreneur can gain much insights from all the content made available throughout this site. Think of all the Facebook likes, retweets on Twitter and social media shares on other popular social media sites like Pinterest, Instagram, and Reddit are cool, but do they really increase profits for your online business? Think about it, how many times do you patronize a business because you liked their Facebook post?

Social media can be a very powerful tool but only works if you have awesome content to offer. Content can be anything. It can be from a very nicely written blog to a fashionable t-shirt with a clever phrase on the front.

Content can truly be anything.

My only suggestion here would be to create your content based on what you are truly passionate about. Your passion for the subject should always reflect into the content you are offering. Don’t rush and take your time to develop useful content that solves any problem for your target readership.

These days I see majority of the online businesses think that just posting a catchy post on Facebook along-side an eye-catching photo will increase their consumer base and ultimately their profits. Only if running an online business were that easy. Then everyone, including the average person would be an expert at online entrepreneur.

Anything in this world worth having, takes hard work and time. The results of an effective online marketing campaign are no different. Of course creating great content isn’t easy, however, when you do create great content, there are so many resources at your disposal for marketing. We often see many type of content that even becomes viral almost overnight.

I sure you have seen many posts and videos on Facebook or YouTube that have hundreds of shares and thousands of likes? The reason that video went viral is because of the content. The average person isn’t a marketing guru and doesn’t have a social media budget but all of them have the power of their own imagination. That’s all you will need to create great content.

You have to think about what’s trending in the world. Too many marketing gurus think that the only thing that can go viral is a funny YouTube video and that’s just not true. If you’re not funny, don’t try to be funny. You don’t need to be funny.

You must play on your strengths. You need to be creative, persistent, and use your imagination in all your content creation efforts. There are a lot of things that are trending in the world. Pick one that interests you the most. Following that, create content about any concerns that surrounding that trending topic.

The more passionate you become to create high value content, the better the content will become. Take your time to ‘evolve’ your content over several days. Make it a habit to never finalize your initial draft.

The next step is to create the content using a media that’s popular. There is a reason why videos are more likely to go viral than an article. A great blog can surely also go viral, but it will definitely take longer. But that’s certainly fine also as you can see that I have also chose the blogging route.

Generally speaking, people tend to enjoy videos more since there is no reading involved in watching a video. Yet people also search a great deal for specialized blogs, infographics and articles on so many trending topics.

The videos doesn’t have to be aesthetically appealing and you don’t have to be an expert video editor. It just has to be packed with appealing and relevant content. And don’t worry, you can always learn about video editing and how to add special effects later down the road. It’s not very difficult to learn and do, as I had found out first hand.

The next step in the process to create viral worthy content is relating your content back to your business. This might be the hardest part, but, if done correctly, is a true game-changer. While the ultimate goal of the content is conversions, however, it doesn’t need to happen immediately.

Profits for the Online Entrepreneur

The mistake that many marketing gurus make is to have their content do the hard selling. Creating great content is to raise awareness towards your online business and eventually to build your brand. The brand should eventually become the ultimate weapon of the online entrepreneur.

Just as any sustainable business anywhere in the world, you need to be patient and deploy a plan to build your brand, customers, relationships, success stories and snowballing profits over time. There are some hit and run ways to conduct business over the Internet, but they are never sustainable.

Throughout the journey of building your business over time, your content will need to solve many problems in your chosen topic. Whether you chose a niche topic or a general one, your potential customers will be those who has problems in that topic and your content somehow managed to show them a way to remedy or even completely solves the problems.

This is how your online business gains traction over time and manages to create a substantial customer base or following. Their enthusiasm over your spectacular contents will allow for most of your content to go viral often enough. This will always equal to sustained profits.

Head Of World’s Largest Hedge Fund Says ‘Paradigm Shift’ In Markets Make Investing In Gold A Top Priority


Billionaire Ray Dalio has made the case in recent time for investing in gold as interest rates continue to fall and central banks print more money, resulting in devalued currencies.

In a recent LinkedIn post, the founder of Bridgewater Associates wrote about monetary policy and the markets over the last 50 years.  He said investors have been over-investing in stocks and other equity-like assets that will most likely see diminishing returns.

“The world is leveraged long, holding assets that have low real and nominal expected returns that are also providing historically low returns relative to cash returns. I think these are unlikely to be good real-returning investments.”

He also cited historical shifts in the geopolitical and macroeconomic climate, such as in the Great Depression and World Wars, to explain the coming “paradigm shift” that will soon face the economy.  He said the financial crisis was the last major “paradigm shift” and blamed unsustainable growth rates as a root cause.

Dalio said the best investments are those that “do well when the value of money is being depreciated and domestic and international conflicts are significant, such as investing in gold.”  He said that it may be “risk-reducing and return-enhancing” for investors to add the precious metal to their portfolio. “In paradigm shifts, most people get caught overextended doing something overly popular and get really hurt,” he wrote. “On the other hand, if you’re astute enough to understand these shifts, you can navigate them well or at least protect yourself against them.”

Dalio isn’t the only hedge-fund heavyweight singing the praises of investing in gold.  Famous investor Paul Tudor Jones put investing in gold as his favorite investment for the next few years.  “I think one of the best trades is going to be from investing in gold. If I had to pick my favorite [bet] for the next 12 to 24 months, it’d probably be gold,” he said during a recent Bloomberg Markets interview.

The price of gold rose 0.7% into Thursday afternoon, to around $1,430 per ounce.

The arguments supporting investing in gold applies to Bitcoin, as well.  The current inflationary policies are, according to former Wall Street portfolio manager Travis Kling “brazenly bullish for a non-sovereign, hardcapped supply, global, immutable, decentralized digital store of value,” by which he meant BTC.  The cryptocurrency is immune to 3rd party inflationary measures and is not controlled by a central authority. Any economic mishap caused by central bankers means that cryptocurrencies, in addition to gold, will see massive injections of capital.

I always recommend to promote offers that you personally like and understand the audience for that offer. The better you understand the scope and attraction of the offer, the better you would be able to target that specific audience to promote to.

Following are some criteria I would suggest for you to look for.

– The quality of the program

Always go for the affiliate marketing program that is backed up by a reliable and trustworthy team with the appropriate and sufficient knowledge about the industry.  Check the affiliate product and services as well.  Does it offer good value and are worth promoting?

You can check at AffPaying to check and find more data on most affiliate networks and also to be able to connect with the network’s affiliate manager(s).

Remember that you will be spending your own hard cash for marketing. Hence, the audience will come across your credibility first before making any buying decisions. If it’s trustworthy, then you will be viewed as such also.

– Is the affiliate product in demand?

Stay current on market demands and about the ‘hottest’ and ‘to watch out for’ products.  A simple search online will help you find out the kind of things that people are looking for and are willing to buy.  There’s a good chance an affiliate marketing program is selling that product.  When a product has a high market demand, it’s much easier to sell.

It would be good news for you as an affiliate marketer of any hot niche program since there won’t be any backbreaking work needed just to get the product off the ground.  It will sell on its own or for a minimal effort.

– Does the program pay high commissions?

Ultimately, any affiliate’s goal in signing up for an affiliate marketing program is to earn money.  In affiliate marketing, profits come in the form of commissions – usually a percentage of the sale of the products.  Why settle for a low-paying program when there are others from which you can benefit more from given the same amount of efforts on your part?

When considering which affiliate marketing program to use, best would be to choose those that offer higher commissions.  Good rates range from about 50 percent to 75 percent.  If the program pays lower than that, you might want to reconsider.  In maximum cases I wouldn’t recommend promoting low commission offers unless you would get any other inherent value from it.

Another aspect of this is the commission itself. Is it a one-time payment per sale or is it recurring monthly commission? For subscription based offers, you may get a recurring commission per month. So be sure to be on the lookout for those types of offers as well.

– How does the conversion rate of the offer compare?

Conversion rate refers to the period it takes for a prospect who clicks on an affiliate site to becoming a paying customer.  In affiliate marketing, this can be notoriously fickle, with leads taking as much as 60 days before ever purchasing anything.

A good indication that a particular affiliate marketing program would be best one for you to select would be its higher conversion rate.  This means that more visitors to an affiliate’s site become buyers.  When there are more buyers, there would be more sales.

To find out about their conversion rate, you can check with the affiliate manager of the offer directly.  Some of the networks publish this information and available to you before you make your decision.  If not, best would be to test the product yourself using targeted visitors to see how well it performs. Split testing any offer is always as very good idea.

– Does the program offers full support?

This is an important criteria to look for when deciding what affiliate marketing program to use if you’re especially a beginner.  There are many programs that will offer their system and leave you on your own without checking in on your progress.

If you’re not a self-starter or are wary of affiliate marketing programs that don’t assist their affiliates, avoid these types.  Use affiliate marketing programs that provide sufficient information, training and affiliate support.  You will appreciate this extra feature in case you run into a bit of trouble later.

Should Starting An Online Business Be Expensive -

Is starting an online business expensive?

I get this question asked by someone or another just about every day. And my answer starts off the same way – “Whether starting and growing your online business will be expensive or not will depend entirely on your mindset and expectations”.

In one of my previous blogs, I had already elaborated on why anyone should start an online business. So, there is no practical reason to delve into that further in this blog. Rather, it would be best to discuss the practical aspects and the costs associated with them as needed to run an online business.

It’s always the mindset, an entrepreneurial mindset, which will be responsible for the success of your online business and the costs thereof. As there are several types of mainstream online businesses, my focus here will be more affiliate marketing centric as that is my chosen model of online business.

The reason affiliate marketing resonates very well with me is that I do not necessarily prefer to create products to sell. Promoting products which are already available and getting a commission per sale or action suits me just fine. This mindset also allows me to find and promote offers rather quickly, whenever I want to.

In such a business model, I always leverage on certain tools to assist me to derive the best results and profitability. I would like to highlight here that I do not have any people related expenses in my online business. Rather, I leverage on several tools and automations to run my online business 24×7.

This has been one of my cornerstone strategies even before starting out. Such a strategy helped me to identify and select any products or services to promote, which would suit me the best.

Keep in mind that just like any business, keeping costs low at the beginning stage of your online business should be your paramount concern. It is highly unlikely that you will make any significant income right from the get go.

While many people do not use their own website for their affiliate business, I deem that to be a grave mistake. It tells me that these people are simply dabblers and not very serious at all about making money online. You will find all highly successful affiliate marketers have their own website, perhaps even several websites, to use as the base of their multiple types of promotions and to build their brand(s).

All it takes is a domain name and hosting to get started with. This cost doesn’t even compare with the enormous startup costs of a traditional brick and mortar business. Design and development of a website is becoming so easy these days as compared to a decade ago.

I do all the design and development work of this website all by myself. To do this, I use WordPress (which is free by the way) and some free tools/plugins. There are zillions of YouTube videos available for you to learn from on how to do this. As many of you know that I am not a coder or developer by any stretch of the words. Yet, here I am running a very successful affiliate business online.

Email Lists

The next aspect you will need to focus on is building an email list. In addition to your website(s), you will need to grow an email list over time so that you can market anything to the people who already knows you or your brand. The more you communicate to them and offer valuable content, the more they will be prone to buying something at your suggestion.

But keep in mind that your email list consists of real people and they must be treated as such. Most modern marketers I see these days tend not to treat them with such intentions and view them as a name on their list only. Whether your subscribers buy anything or not, they are your audience and you must treat them with respect and offer them value at every turn.

In order to build this email list, you will need to subscribe to an email autoresponder service. Some such services do have some free offers limited to the number of total subscribers in your list. There may also be some restrictions on how many emails being sent per month. You should explore this to find the service that best suits your business strategy.

Using the autoresponder, you can set up a series of emails, as campaigns, to be sent out at a predetermined intervals without you having to intervene with personally. For example, anyone who would subscribed to your email list will automatically get a welcome email regardless of what time of the day or night it may be. They will continue to receive your emails from the pre-set campaign at your chosen intervals.

I have found that most autoresponder services are not friendly with the affiliate marketers. Hence, the frequency of the emails you may sent may trigger them to stop your service without any prior notice. Also a point of concern is the amount of actual emails you sent out that would actually end up in the inbox of the intended recipient rather than their spam folders.

For my business, I had chosen to work with Aweber because of their reputation and reliability. It’s also very easy to use, even for a person like me. I never had a problem with them what so ever. Their delivery rate is also one of the highest in the industry. It is however a paid service from the start. They do offer a trial period for you to try out the service and cancel if you are not satisfied.

GetResponse is another reputable autoresponder service that you could look into.

I stress again that having an email autoresponder is a key tool to impact the profitability of any type of online business.


Webinars are a very hot promotional tool these days used by all the top online marketers. While you can hold live sessions at some of the social platforms, it is best to organize them independently for Live Casting, Event Streaming and Webinar Broadcasting for maximum level of impact with your viewers. You can also record the session for future promotions.

I use WebinarJam. It’s packed with useful features such as private rooms, virtual whiteboards, live streaming, polls, live chat, autoresponder integration, analytics, etc. For my further promotions, I use the recordings of the live webinars afterwards on social media platforms to drive more traffic to my offers.

Holding regular webinar sessions is a great way to engage with your audience regardless of whichever part of the world they may live in. I suggest to hold regular webinar sessions to any type of online businesses and not just to affiliate marketers.

Affiliate Platforms

I always suggest to find the products or services to promote through a credible affiliate platform rather than signing up with any specific merchant directly. For a wide range of products and services for you to promote, I recommend ShareASale and CJ. My recommended platforms for info products are JVZoo, Warrior Plus and Clickbank.

Using such platforms are free of cost. Personally, I tend to sign up first for the products I intend to promote, even if it’s for a trial run, so that I could familiarize myself with it before I start to promote it. Often this way you will incur some costs but my advice to you will be to know the products first hand before you start to promote to your audience.

Marketing Your Affiliate Links

Marketing is a vast topic and I have already covered some popular ways in my previous blogs here. Yet, you will need to do a very critical thing before you start marketing your links. Whether you are promoting your own product links or affiliate links, your primary intention should be to always capture the email addresses of the visitors.

You will need to have an email capture form in a page where the visitors will enter their names and email addresses in order to proceed onwards to the actual offer page. Often these capture pages are called the landing page, bridge page, squeeze page, sales page, etc.

This can be developed with the help of certain free plug-ins if you are using WordPress. Just be sure that the plug-in integrates with whichever autoresponder you may be using. There are other service providers who can provide you with the bridge pages such as ClickFunnels, Builderall, TheConversionPros, etc.

Having captured the email addresses is simply the beginning of the marketing process. I had always said that there is a right way of doing things and just about hundreds of wrong ways of doing things. I discussed this in details in my e-book, How To Earn Riches Like A Super Affiliate.

One thing I will mention here as a reinforcement is that ideally there should be two types of affiliate programs you should be promoting. The first is a program that which gives you a monthly recurring income. The second should be a high ticket affiliate program which would give you a greater level of commission from every sale through you.

Marketing high ticket programs could take a bit of work but it certainly isn’t rocket science. There aren’t many such programs out there and finding the right one for you should be a priority level task.

Learning and Training

The one constant for any online business is that the learning never stops. You can always learn something new to improve your business and profits. You can always find some content at YouTube to learn from. However, you should have a way to learn how to become successful with your online business in a more methodical way. Bits and pieces of learning in YouTube is just that. All training should be done in a systematic way by credible sources with a proven track record.

You should always set aside a budget for any training at least annually. You will always appreciate it and be rewarded by it.

In summary, it always boils down to your mindset. As you can see that there are certain absolute expenses involved to get started, yet there are some free options also. Somethings can be done very well using the free options while somethings should be absolutely done with proven tools.

Even from the very start you should always target a six figure income. As such, certain small expenses for some essential tools should be budgeted for even if your income hasn’t yet started. Investing into such tools will fast track the growth of your online business and create very profitable conversions.

You have probably heard about a friend of a friend or co-worker’s second cousin who has made it big in the world of online business. Instead, the money could be used to rent a more cost-effective inventory warehouse. The products can be shipped to your customers within a few days and if you are smart with your decisions, you can find a shipping company which suits your financial needs to match the needs of your customers.

The barriers to entry in the online business industry are very low. All you need to start up a site is a domain name and a reputable hosting service. There are, of course, certain costs such as outsourcing to a designer, content writers, and web developers to make your website look polished, but even that is a lot lower than the cost of starting a brick and mortar business. Even for brick and mortar businesses, online presence these days is a must. Do keep in mind that much of these costs are an one time investment and not monthly recurring costs.

The biggest advantage of online retails is that customers can select products within a few minutes. They can look through pictures of your online collections to quickly choose a product no matter how far away they may be.

Online stores are also easier to advertise. Through sharing your various product links to your target audience(s), they can view the products at their leisure and in turn share the same product details to their friends and family all at the click of a button.

You can easily advertise your online business in social media and forums and even to create apps to support your site. Promotion becomes a lot more cost effective and would deliver a tremendous ROI which would propel your business to grow at a much faster rate as opposed to the traditional brick and mortar model.

Customers can visit your site and  place orders from anywhere and anytime. Your store operates 24×7 and never closes.

Similarly, you could oversee the orders being processed from anywhere just by using your laptop or smartphone. It will only take a few clicks for any customer to interact with your automated processes to arrange any fulfillment requirements, such as to arrange delivery of any physical goods to even the other side of the country.

Try your best to create visually pleasing feed which will captivate the visitors to your page. Here you could also further personalize your feed along with your products and services.

You should also host regular promotions and offers to boost the engagement levels of existing customers and at the same time to attract new ones.

By increasing engagement and advertisement through social media, you can generate an increased flow of revenue and find more customers than you could’ve with regular ads in brick and mortar business.

The surge of Bitcoin ushered in the age of the crypto-currencies worldwide. Many Forex experts are offering their best opinions (whether positive or negative) on the news, TV shows, YouTube, websites, etc. just about every waking hour.

Blogging Your Way To Profits -

Blogging has been the tip of the spearhead of content marketing since many years now. In fact, so many bloggers have been able to monetize their blogs enough to make a full time and predictable income year after year. I personally realize that I should have started this blog site a few year ago and not put it off for later.

As you may be aware that there are many aspects of blogging. To keep in line with this site, I will focus more on the online business aspect of blogging and how you could generate and optimize your income from blogging. Naturally, your results based on my recommendations will vary based on so many aspects of your own efforts and general online behaviors of your readership.

I tend to break up any blog content into two different categories. They are ‘news’ and ‘evergreen’.

Blogging content as news

With these types of blogs, I do not mean to only imply where mainstream news is presented as news blogs. It could also be any variety of activities which are reported in the blog for people who may be interested in that topic. These type of news blogs are mostly on current events and will wear out its popularity in a relatively short period of time.

Often you could find bloggers offering the details of their day to day experiences such as having an English breakfast in the morning in a specific café overlooking the beach area. This would be considered news to the interested readership who may be following that particular blogger on a daily basis.

People often tend to also write similar types of blogs of their pets, travels, new tech they just bought, shopping, making new friends, graduations, etc. You could also find people blogging about a specific news event and adding to it their point of view or expertise.

So, news type of content blogging usually highlights the blogger who is sharing his/her experiences. Or it revolves around a specific topic, such as ‘Life in London’. More than often you may also come across blogs which combines both these aspects, such as ‘My life in London’.

One advantage of such type of blogging is that you should hardly ever be stuck for any subject within the topic to write on. There is always something or another happening to write about. These blogs are usually not very long and around 500 words with some pictures and/or short videos.

Evergreen content for blogging

Evergreen content is quite the reverse spectrum of the news type of blogging. Such type of blogging aims to retain the popularity of the content for a very long time, perhaps even a few years.

The inherent strength of evergreen content is that they remain relevant to the interested readership for years to come. These types of blogs are always written to wrap around a specific niche in mind.

Once a niche is selected, various blogs are then written highlighting many specific aspects of that niche. For example, the niche can be ‘soccer’. The blogs written around that niche can be rules of the game, popular clubs, tournaments, worldcup events, etc.

These blogs will tend to be longer and more detailed with all the relevant information. For example, a blog about worldcup could mention the biggest worldcup years, background on the organizers, some of the host country demographics, specs on many key stadiums, pictures of the approved soccer balls for the event throughout the years, some of the legendary players over time, highlights of some historical games, etc.

The recommended length for such types of evergreen blogs are at least 2000 words. Pictures and videos are also encouraged to make the posts even more engaging.

Others have categorized evergreen content further as response posts, cornerstone posts, etc. For the purpose of this post, further classifications of the evergreen content in not necessary and is fully covered on how to monetize them.

Monetize your traffic

Monetizing the traffic to the blog site should be a major target for any blogger.

For the news type of blogging sites, this usually would not amount to much over any length of time. There would surely be a flurry of visits/traffic initially over weeks or even months, if it is a popular blog site. Hence constantly marketing the site, usually with paid traffic, would need to be a daily and ongoing activity. Monetizing the traffic nevertheless should be part of the income strategy.

On the other hand, evergreen type of blogging sites tend to receive less traffic on the short term but should generate a substantial amount of traffic over time. My recommendation to at least start out with 10 well written and detailed posts (over 2000 words). Keep on adding to them over time as you move forward.

Monetizing through Affiliate Marketing

All bloggers are recommended to have an affiliate account with Amazon has a very good affiliate program for which anyone could sign up for from anywhere in the world.

The best thing about Amazon is that any blogger could find at least some products related to their niche and subjects. Hence, they could share a link (or multiple links) out to Amazon from all posts they write regardless of the subject.

Of course, depending on your niche, you could readily find more affiliate programs to join and promote through your posts. Your profits could vary greatly depending on the affiliate program(s) you choose to promote.

Some popular affiliate sites are ShareaSale, Clickbank, JVZoo, CJ, Admitad, etc. There are many affiliate advertisers available through these sites for you to select and promote.

Both evergreen and news content writers can benefit from promoting selective affiliate links in all their posts.

Monetizing through your own products

It is always recommended to have your own product(s) to promote through your blog posts. At the starting phase, this maybe too involved and expensive of an option for you. However, this should most definitely be a part of your long term income strategy.

Your own product could also be in the form of a service which you could provide. For example, if your niche is ‘antiques’ you could offer an ‘appraisal service’. As long as your offered service is not too alienated from your niche and post subjects, it should be fine.

As for products, it can either be an information product or even a physical product. In some cases, you could even further plug in a service to your offering as well. For example, if your niche is about ‘pianos’, your info product could be ‘How to select a piano’ while your physical product could be a ‘piano polish’ and finally you could offer a ‘piano moving service’.

This sort of monetization is also recommended for both evergreen and news content writers. However, this method is easier to monetize for evergreen content writers.

Combine all options

Your goal eventually should be to be able to monetize your overall blogging site from all the options presented to you above. Of course until you have your own products to suit the purpose, you should lean heavily on your affiliate promotions. For example, at the end of every post, you could surely recommend a book or product on the post subject from Amazon.

What about doing SEO?

The key element to monetizing your traffic is indeed through SEO or Search Engine Optimization. If done successfully, this fact alone will drive all the traffic you will need to your site, especially for all evergreen content. The best part of it is that you can get all that traffic to your site at free of cost!

So yes, learning proper SEO techniques with the aim to promote your blog site should be a paramount task for you. Getting a certain volume of free traffic, also known as organic traffic, could potentially vault your site to the number one position in the search results for specific keywords related to your niche.

Of course if you have the budget for it, by all means you could do paid campaigns to boost your traffic much sooner. However for the sake of efficiency, I would recommend to have someone professional to optimize your blog site for SEO, so that you do not waste your time and hard earned money.

Planning your SEO in general actually starts even before you launch your site. It starts at the time you are selecting your niche. Simply visit Google Trends and type in the niche you wish to work with. Based on the popularity of that niche/keyword vs. the level of competition, you will need to finalize your niche to work on.

You could even type in your blog subject lines there to get a feel for demand. Ideal would be to select niches and subjects with higher popularity vs. low competition. This will ensure that you will quickly climb through the search engine ranks and eventually establish yourself as a subject matter expert in your niche.

Do keep in mind that doing SEO for organic or free traffic is a long term strategy. You will not be ranked overnight by any means. For example, it will take at least three to six months for your new blog site to even get ranked. If you are blogging evergreen content, you should see a steady rise in the rankings after that initial period.

So many people do not seem to understand this fact and simply give up blogging before that initial period of six months.

Which blogging platform should I choose?

Just to let you know that I am extremely partial towards This particular site was built on the WordPress platform.

The very first reason being that I am not a coder or programmer. WordPress does not need me to code anything for me to start and operate my blogs.

Secondly, there is usually a plug-in available for just about any additional functionality anyone may require for their blog. For example, anyone could sign-up to receive my newsletters at this site and be automatically be included in my third party newsletter emailing service. I did this using only a plug-in where zero coding was required.

WordPress is also inherently very Google SEO friendly. This platform was designed to be as such. This fact is certainly a key consideration for me when I was starting out. I also do not have much time during the day to do any intensive marketing for my site. However, I do use an additional plug-in to be even more SEO friendly. You can also choose from several user friendly SEO plug-ins, if you choose to use WordPress.

There are also zillions of themes to choose from when setting up your WordPress site. You can also change these themes at a later stage simply at the push of a button.

Getting support from WordPress is also very easy and available. WordPress offers a wealth of documentations to address any common concerns. Further, if you require any programmer to assist you at any time, there is an arsenal of freelancers for you to choose from any popular freelancing sites.

Over 25% of all websites in the world are in fact WordPress sites. So the platform is not only blogging friendly, but can be purposed for just about anything.

Of course there are other options available which have their own merits. I would recommend for you to look into these other options as well to suit your needs best.

What about hosting?

Many people fail at this and usually end up choosing a cheap hosting option to start out with. Nothing is actually wrong with selecting a cheaper hosting company but you should do your due diligence before selecting your hosting on price point alone.

Your site’s down times and loading speeds will certainly affect your search rankings. This will in turn affect your revenue adversely. So, the money you had thought which you had saved in hosting will in fact cost you a lot more in the long term. It’s always wise to select a good hosting company right from the very start.

Very important to track your links

Another important thing most bloggers skip doing is that they do not track their links. These are all the links to your products, your affiliate links, funnels, etc. Unless you track the performance of your links, you will not truly understand how your readership is reacting to our offers or promotions.

You definitely will need to replace your non-converting or low performing promotions with newer and better ones. Constant monitoring is needed to weed out the weaker promotions in order to maximize your profits from the same number of site visitors.

For example, you need to know why some people who are clicking on your affiliate link to get to the affiliate landing page and ultimately are not converting. If you would know this information, you have some choices to explore. In this case, it would seem that you had warmed them up enough to the offer for them to click the affiliate link but when they come across the affiliate landing page, something or another prevents them from buying.

Your choices could be to change your link to a different yet similar program, rewrite your content to explain the offer more or request assistance from your affiliate partner to give you a more customized landing page (otherwise known as co-branded) to encourage your readers better, etc.

So you can see that much potential income could be missed out on, IF, you do not do link tracking. Also, without such tracking, you are simply burning through your traffic and leads without any desired level of conversions.

Online advertising campaigns are the best ways to gather leads and scale your business fast. It can target extremely localized to global reaches based on your intent. But please understand that all online advertising mediums are not the same.

Based on the type of your business and the type of ads you wish to use for promotions can yield different results on various advertising campaigns. Also, your budget often plays a major factor on where you wish to advertise your products or services.

As I am an online business entrepreneur, I will stick to the online advertising mediums and how to eventually generate substantial profits from them in this post, as appropriate.

Generally speaking, you will hear of the two major online advertising platforms as Facebook and Google. Frankly speaking, if you could master these two platforms, you will need to look no further. Having said that, other platforms include YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram, Reddit, Craigslist, etc. You could also have a look into my previous post on paid and free traffic sources.

I will proceed to discuss only Google & Facebook here as I feel these are the most relevant platforms to facilitate the purposes of this specific post on mostly paid online advertising sources.

My preferred online advertising platform of the two has always been Google. This is because that any ads which are shown only based on the search results for keywords which anyone would be searching for at any given time. Hence, all the ad campaigns should be designed with specific keywords in mind which best serves your purpose including your budgets.

I am sure you have guessed it already that the keywords would then be a major consideration for your budgets. Also to note here that the same keywords would have different costs associated with them at various different geographical settings. For example, the same keyword ‘insurance attorney’ would have different costs for USA, India, Brazil, Nigeria, etc.

I believe you get the point. The lowest a keyword could potentially cost would be $0.01, however this would be highly improbable.

There are also several other factors which impacts the costs, but I will address those in a future post in details. Google is also revamping their advertising platforms and services. Let me run through the key points of these changes for the purpose of clarity.

Online advertising changes with Google

Google launched AdWords nearly 18 years ago with a simple goal, to make it easier for people to connect online with businesses from which they are looking for any products or services. Anyone searching for even simple things like car detailing shop, pet care facilities, drawing supplies, organic foods or even for a service like a lawn mowing services gave Google an opportunity to deliver valuable ads that were actually useful and relevant at that specific moment. That type of an idea was the start of their first advertising product which led to the ads business Google offers today.

Needless to say that a lot has changed since then. Mobile is now a huge part of our everyday lives. People quickly switch from searching for products, to watching videos, browsing content, playing games and more. As a result, marketers have more opportunities to reach consumers across channels, screens and formats.

Advertising on Google has evolved tremendously as well. From helping marketers connect with people searching on Google and by helping them to connect at every step of the consumer journey. As the opportunity to engage consumers has grown and become more complex, Google is always trying to match the momentum by simplifying their products for advertisers and publishers of all sizes so they can more easily reach consumers anywhere, at any moment and on any channel.

That’s why Google is now introducing new brands for their advertising products: Google Ads, Google Marketing Platform, and Google Ad Manager. These new brands reflect all of the ways that Google could help advertisers connect with consumers and make it easier for advertisers and publishers to choose which products are right for their businesses. Further as a part of this move, Google is releasing new solutions that would help advertisers get started with Google Ads and drive collaboration across teams.

Google AdWords is becoming Google Ads

The new Google Ads brand represents the full range of advertising capabilities which Google can find today on and across their other properties, partner sites and apps to help online businesses connect with the billions of people finding answers on Search, watching videos on YouTube, exploring new places on Google Maps, discovering apps on Google Play, browsing content across the web, and more.

For small businesses specifically who are not doing online advertising at the moment, Google is introducing a new campaign type in Google Ads which will make it easier than ever to get started with online advertising. It brings the machine learning technology of Google Ads to small businesses and helps them get results without any heavy lifting, so that they can stay focused on running their businesses at all time.

Stronger collaboration with Google Marketing Platform

Google is also enabling stronger collaboration for enterprise marketing teams by unifying their DoubleClick advertiser products and the Google Analytics 360 Suite under a single brand: Google Marketing Platform.

Already some marketers have remarked that there are real benefits to using ads and analytics technology together, including a better understanding of customers and better business results. Google Marketing Platform helps online businesses to achieve their goals by building on existing integrations between the Google Analytics 360 Suite and DoubleClick Digital Marketing. The platform helps marketers plan, buy, measure and to optimize digital media and customer experiences in one place.

As part of the Google Marketing Platform, Google has announced Display & Video 360. Display & Video 360 brings together features from DoubleClick Bid Manager, Campaign Manager, Studio and Audience Center to allow creative, agency, and media teams to collaborate and execute ad campaigns end-to-end in a single place. Google Ad Manager: A unified platform

Google recognized that the way publishers monetize their content has changed. With people accessing content on multiple screens, and with advertisers’ growing demand for programmatic access, publishers need to be able to manage their businesses more simply and efficiently. That’s why for the last three years, Google has been working to bring together DoubleClick for Publishers and DoubleClick Ad Exchange in a complete and unified programmatic platform under a new name, Google Ad Manager.

With such an evolution, Google is rather excited to do even more for their partners by earning them more money, more efficiently, wherever people are watching videos, playing games or engaging with content, and also in any which way the advertisers are looking to work with them.

Transparency and controls people can trust

Google knows what the media and technology advertisers and publishers choose to use will impact the relationships they have with their customers. Google’s commitment is to ensure that all of their products and platforms set the industry’s highest standards in giving people transparency and choice in the ads they see. For example, Google recently announced new Ads Settings and expanded ‘Why this ad?’ across all of their services, and almost all websites and apps that partner with them to show ads.

Even after launching these new services, I am sure they will keep on optimizing them for a while to better serve the customers and partners.

What about online advertising with Facebook?

As with many online business professionals, I share a very similar view with Facebook ads. Success with advertising on Facebook will primarily depend on geography. If your target country or geography has a very high level of users who accesses Facebook on a daily basis, only then you could expect the best results with Facebook advertising.

If you do this research within the Facebook Ads Manager, the number you will see there is the number of total users for that country or area. You should do this research independently to get a clear idea of how many active daily users there are for your particular country or area of interest.

Unlike Google, whereas a person maybe actively searching for your product or services, Facebook will actually display your ads to people who may fit your preferred demography, location, affinities, etc. So, it is possible to cover a very large segment of targeted people without achieving the desired results.

Also do keep in mind that Facebook is a social network whereas people in general are logging onto it to do some socializing. Running across any ads will need to be a highly compelling experience to jerk any immediate reactions out of them. Most ads Facebook users come across are simply ignored.

Although what I am saying about Facebook ads may seem a bit negative, that is not my intention here at all. I am simply trying to point out that both Google and Facebook are the most viable online advertising platform while both demand a very different mindset to create and implement any ad campaigns.

Also to consider that you could have some very good options for you to use in Facebook in addition to having your own website to promote. You could create fan pages in Facebook for your business and post your offers there for others to see and engage with.

You could also create or join groups where you could not only promote your own business but also see what your peers are doing to promote their businesses. Your groups can be moderated as you may wish to and even decide who can join or not.

With your fan pages and groups, you can create or even reinforce your brand easily at a very personal level with others. But do keep in mind that I had mentioned earlier that this is a social network. So, the more socially you can engage with your audience, the better the results will be.

Aside from creating and promoting your ad campaigns in Facebook, you could also promote the individual posts you may create in your personal page, fan pages or in your groups. You may even get many free promotions out of all this if others are willing to ‘share’ your posts. This would be the ultimate form of success in this form of online advertising in Facebook.

What should be the key target for your online advertising campaigns?

I recommend to encourage for any of your ad campaigns to sway your audience to click on to visit your own website or offer, away from Facebook or Google. This should be the desired end result even from your Facebook fan pages and group activities.

Ideally, you would want anyone who clicked on your ads or posts to go to your landing or squeeze page. This landing page is not to be confused as the home page of your website. I have a detailed BLOG on how to go about creating a landing page here.

As explained in details, all landing pages are designed for a singular purpose which is to get the visitor to take action on your offer immediately. This action could be anything from downloading a free e-book, getting a cool infographic, trial software, any type of a purchase, limited time access, etc.

Also make sure to use a very good hosting company to ensure maximum up time of your site or landing pages. Otherwise your ad revenue will be wasted by sending traffic to a page which may be down at times.

Never forget to do this

The most important part is to get your prospects to enter their email addresses in your capture form before the action in the landing page is completed. These email address are then entered into your email list or sales funnel at the back end. Naturally, you will need to have the sales funnel setup and active beforehand.

An email autoresponder will work in tandem with your sales funnel to run your email campaigns to do all future marketing and selling to all your subscribers in your email list over time. A dynamic set of emails need to be in your funnel which will offer value to your subscribers in return for their decisions to purchase your products and services.

The back end is where your profits are

Surely you have understood by now that your initial online advertising campaign in Google or Facebook should be an enticing offer which would only need to get them to click on the ad to get them to your landing page.

Once there, the full details of the offer is found with sufficient prompt to take action immediately. Keep in mind that this action is not any big ticket sales. The action they may take is intended to convert them from a cold prospect to a warm lead.
